"Jack of all and master of none", the most popular saying is no more the norm of the day. Swimming against the tide, youth today manage to handle multiple activities at the same time. No more do they restrict themselves to mere academics. Instead, jack of all and master of all is the upcoming rule of the day. The educational institutions offering various add on courses is on a rise. The 'clubs' for extra curricular activities that are offered by the institutions are also mushrooming.
Students comparatively learn more outside the classroom than inside. Extra curricular boost the communication skills and plays a dominant role in shaping their career and life. But this does not mean that the academics have to be neglected. Both have their own role to play,Further there are umpteen instances where best students have done well both in academics and extra curricular. A good student will be good everywhere.
Colleges today offer various certificate courses. Apart from academics colleges have various other courses to offer. Communicative English., technical writing, fashion designing, interior decorations are just a few to name.
Extra curricular activities help students gain a better and broader perspective of life. Time is not a constraint, Where there is a will, there will be a way. It is the attitude and interest that counts. Compromising with interests is not good. Proper management of time can be a solution. Indulgence in activities other than academics will build knowledge and widens our horizon.
Academics provides information whereas extra curricular help in personality development. Over all development is not possible without participation in extra curricular activities. Taking into consideration the lack of activities offered at some colleges it is the responsibility of the conveners to promote and provide opportunities for the students. Extra curricular activities paints a picture of their inert interests in other streams apart from the academics.
However, most of the colleges do stress and focus upon the extra curricular activities for the students, be it cultural, literary or sports. A new addition to the list is the certificate courses. An additional knowledge along with your high percentage mark sheets is what most of the employers today look forward to. Striking a balance between extra curricular and academics is important.
There are instances where hobbies turn out to be the profession of many. Perhaps, it can also act as a stress releasing and refreshing agent, by giving a break from the routine schedule.
